What is MESA Day Like?

What is MESA? ¿Qué es MESA?

Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) helps thousands of educationally disadvantaged students to become engineers, scientists and other math-based professionals urgently needed by industry.

MESA provides a unique combination of enrichment activities, hands-on competitions, academic support, industry involvement and a supportive community environment. MESA is nationally recognized for its innovative and effective academic development program for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields.

MESA serves middle school, high school, community college and university level students through local centers throughout California. Since its inception in 1970, MESA has had a strong partnership with industry. MESA also partners with all segments of California higher education as well as K-12 institutions. California MESA’s model has been replicated in 12 other states, and is the basis for many other programs.

Welcome to MESA 2016/2017!

Who Can Join MESA?

If you are already a part of the After School Program and are in sixth grade then you are automatically enrolled in our program! 7th and 8th grade returning MESA students are also enrolled if they ended our last school year in good standing in our program and are still interested in continuing with us.  After confirming enrollment, MESA Advisors post a list of those enrolled in this year's program in  the After School office after the third week of classes.  Thereafter, any other students still wishing to join are taken from the MESA wait list and are notified by the end of September.

So..... if you are a student in 6th - 8th grade who is not in the After School Program that would like to join MESA, please put your name, personally, on the MESA wait list in the After School Program office as soon as possible and wait for your notification of enrollment by the end of September.   MESA meets once a week on Thursdays from 3:45 p.m.- 5:30 p.m.

Our first club meeting this year will be on Thursday August 25.  Be sure to wear a MESA shirt if you have one!
